Brotli Compression

Enable Brotli compression for the ESP-DASH Pro v4 dashboard webpage to reduce flash usage, and review its browser and HTTPS requirements.

ESP-DASH Pro feature. This functionality is available only in the commercial edition of ESP-DASH.

Starting with ESP-DASH Pro v4.3.0, you can compress the dashboard webpage with Brotli instead of gzip. Brotli reduces the size of the webpage by about 40% compared to gzip, the default, which frees flash space for your application.

Brotli compression

Browser support

Over unencrypted HTTP, only Safari accepts Brotli-compressed responses. Other browsers, such as Chrome, Edge and Firefox, accept Brotli only over HTTPS. Enable Brotli only if your deployment meets these requirements.

Brotli compression is disabled by default.

Enable Brotli compression

Open dash_webpage.h

Open dash_webpage.h in the src directory of the ESP-DASH Pro library.

Set the option

Locate DASH_USE_BROTLI_COMPRESSION and set it to 1:

#define DASH_USE_BROTLI_COMPRESSION 1

Rebuild the firmware

Save the file, then compile and upload your sketch.
