AI Tools
Use the ElegantOTA documentation from AI coding assistants through the MCP server, llms.txt and Markdown page exports.
The ElegantOTA documentation is available in machine-readable formats so that AI coding assistants can answer questions and generate code from the current API instead of outdated training data.
Ask AI
Select Ask AI at the bottom of any documentation page to open the documentation assistant. It searches these pages before answering and links to the sources it used. Answers are grounded in the documentation only; verify generated code against the referenced pages.
MCP server
The documentation is served as a Model Context Protocol server over Streamable HTTP. No authentication is required. One server covers every SOFTT library (ESP-DASH, ElegantOTA, NetWizard and WebSerial); pass library: "elegantota" to limit results to ElegantOTA.
https://docs.softt.io/api/mcpThe server exposes three read-only tools:
| Tool | Description |
|---|---|
search_docs | Full-text search across the documentation. Accepts query, an optional library (espdash, elegantota, netwizard, webserial or all), an optional version for ESP-DASH (v5, v4 or all) and limit. |
get_page | Returns the complete Markdown of a page, such as /docs/elegantota/ota-modes/auto. |
list_pages | Lists pages with their title, description and URL, filtered by library and version. |
Connect a client
claude mcp add --transport http softt https://docs.softt.io/api/mcpOnce connected, ask your assistant questions such as "Add ElegantOTA to my ESP32 sketch with authentication and an onEnd callback" and it will retrieve the relevant pages before writing code.
llms.txt
The site publishes llms.txt files for tools that ingest documentation directly:
| URL | Contents |
|---|---|
/llms.txt | Index of every page with its title, description and link. |
/llms-full.txt | The complete documentation of every library and version as a single Markdown file. |
Markdown pages
Every page is also available as Markdown:
- Append
.mdto a page URL, for example/docs/elegantota/ota-modes/auto.md. - Requests with an
Accept: text/markdownheader receive Markdown instead of HTML. - Use Copy Markdown at the top of a page to copy it to the clipboard, or Open to send it to an assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude.
Using with Other SOFTT Libraries
Combine ElegantOTA with ESP-DASH, NetWizard and WebSerial in the same project, sharing one AsyncWebServer.
File
The default OTA mode, in which you upload a .bin file from the portal. Covers staging, the capacity check, MD5 verification, update targets and the HTTP requests involved.
