AI Tools

Use the WebSerial documentation from AI coding assistants through the MCP server, llms.txt and Markdown page exports.

The WebSerial documentation is available in machine-readable formats so that AI coding assistants can answer questions and generate code from the current API instead of outdated training data.

Ask AI

Select Ask AI at the bottom of any documentation page to open the documentation assistant. It searches these pages before answering and links to the sources it used. Answers are grounded in the documentation only; verify generated code against the referenced pages.

MCP server

The documentation is served as a Model Context Protocol server over Streamable HTTP. No authentication is required. One server covers every SOFTT library (ESP-DASH, ElegantOTA, NetWizard and WebSerial); pass library: "webserial" to limit results to WebSerial.

https://docs.softt.io/api/mcp

The server exposes three read-only tools:

ToolDescription
search_docsFull-text search across the documentation. Accepts query, an optional library (espdash, elegantota, netwizard, webserial or all), an optional version for ESP-DASH (v5, v4 or all) and limit.
get_pageReturns the complete Markdown of a page, such as /docs/webserial/callbacks.
list_pagesLists pages with their title, description and URL, filtered by library and version.

Connect a client

claude mcp add --transport http softt https://docs.softt.io/api/mcp

Once connected, ask your assistant questions such as "Add WebSerial to my sketch and handle a "reboot" command from the terminal" and it will retrieve the relevant pages before writing code.

llms.txt

The site publishes llms.txt files for tools that ingest documentation directly:

URLContents
/llms.txtIndex of every page with its title, description and link.
/llms-full.txtThe complete documentation of every library and version as a single Markdown file.

Markdown pages

Every page is also available as Markdown:

  • Append .md to a page URL, for example /docs/webserial/callbacks.md.
  • Requests with an Accept: text/markdown header receive Markdown instead of HTML.
  • Use Copy Markdown at the top of a page to copy it to the clipboard, or Open to send it to an assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude.
